NLMK Group is committed to creating the right environment for young employees to unlock their potential and create a career, as well as striving to help them resolve wider issues.
The Group is actively seeking to attract promising young people, including both university and college graduates; and those who have served their conscription into the Russian army. Each year, the Company hires more than a thousand of skilled young people, who then become staff members or enter the talent pool of managers and qualified professionals.

NLMK’s programmes for young professionals are aimed at helping graduates adapt to a working environment and targeted at workers in basic professions, managers and qualified professionals aged under 30.
The Young Leader contest has been held by the Lipetsk site since 2005. It is designed to help employees unlock their leadership potential and build a talent pool of managers of all levels. The contest is open to all Novolipetsk employees aged under 35 (managers, qualified professionals, workers and office employees) with experience at the plant of at least one year, excluding members of the contest’s organising committee and working team, as well as jury members and winners of the previous year’s contest. Around 1,000 people take part in the contest each year.
NLMK Group’s Lipetsk site established the Housing for Young Steelworkers programme in 2005. Part of the Group’s incentive system, the programme is a not-for-profit social project targeted at employees aged below 35 that have more than three years’ experience at the plant; have been married for at least one year; and are in need of better housing.
Programme winners, determined on the basis of individual performance, can buy an apartment with a 30% down payment and an interest free payment period of 15 years.
Open to employees with a degree and aged below 30, the programme provides training at the School for Young Professionals, which includes workshops, boot camps, business games, and preparation of an engineering project under the guidance of experts in the field. More than 200 Novolipetsk employees have been named Best Novolipetsk Young Professional since the programme was launched.
