Our approach

As one of the largest international producers of steel and steel products, NLMK Group is aware of its responsibility towards society, nature, and future generations. A number of NLMK Group’s internal documents regulate our sustainability measures.

Sustainability management is integrated into the NLMK Group’s corporate governance system and is carried out at all Group companies, including international ones. Sustainability matters consistently feature high on the agenda of NLMK Group’s leadership. The Board of Directors, Board committees, СЕО (Chairman of the Management Board), and the Management Board determine strategic growth priorities and ensure overall sustainability management.

Sustainable development objectives and areas

NLMK Group supports the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015 to address significant economic, social, and environmental challenges faced by the global community.

We believe that the Group makes a valuable contribution to the achievement of global sustainability goals by engaging in responsible business and targeted activities that aim to reduce its environmental footprint, support local communities, and ensure safe and decent working conditions.

NLMK Group, a global steel company, announces today that the FTSE Russel agency has revised NLMK’s FTSE4Good rating upwards from 3.4 to 4.3 (with a maximum of 5.0) following its regular review. With this new rating, NLMK Group now ranks among the top 3% of steelmaking companies with the most sustainable practices (outstripping 97% of participating companies)

It selects the ESG leaders in 12 key sectors of the Russian economy based on 200 parameters. In the overall list of 155 Russian participants, NLMK Group ranks among the top 5 companies.
