NLMK signed contract to supply another pre-painting line

Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has signed a contract with the German company “Sundwig” to supply its third pre-painting line which will have an annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes of steel. The contract is worth EUR 33 million. The new equipment will be delivered within 14 months.

The new facility is to be installed at the main production site in Lipetsk in 2009, within the framework of the Phase 2 Technical Upgrading Programme.

In 2007, the company signed a contract to supply equipment for its forth hot-dip galvanizing line, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes.

Upon commissioning these new facilities, NLMK plans to produce up to 1.11 million tonnes of galvanized rolled steel, including 595,000 tonnes of galvanized pre-painted products.

For reference:

After the implementation of its Technical Upgrading Programme, NLMK will have the capacity to increase its annual crude steel output to 12.4 million tonnes and its finished flat products to 9.5 m tonnes by 2012. Total investments into the 2nd Phase of the Technical Upgrading Programme will amount to over USD4.0 billion by 2011.
