Recovery cogeneration plant (RCGP-2)

The construction of Recovery cogeneration plant (RCGP-2) is ongoing at NLMK Lipetsk. Its estimated capacity is 300 MWt, investment totalled RUB 35 billion. The plant will operate using secondary power resources — by-product gases generated by metallurgical processes, such as pig iron and steel manufacturing. This will allow for an increase in the share of internally sourced energy generation in the energy consumption balance from 64% to 95%. Emission of carbon oxide will be lowered by 3,000 tonnes per year, greenhouse gases (CO2) — by 650,000 tonnes per year. Currently, the installation of main technological equipment is underway. The plant is to be launched in 2023.
