Atmospheric air
The current specific air emissions by NLMK Group’s companies are in line with Russian best available techniques (BATs).
Since 2000, specific air emissions by NLMK Group have lowered 2.5 times while steel production has doubled.
NLMK Group air emissions
NLMK Group adopted its current Environmental Programme in 2021. Emission reduction projects remain a focus for the management and will continue to receive a large portion of environmental investment. Major future projects to reduce air emissions include new dedusting and desulphurization systems for the Sinter Plant, a revamp of dedusting at coking operations of NLMK Lipetsk, and installation of a dust-free coke discharge unit in Zarinsk. The projects aim to reduce emissions of dust, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, and sulphur oxides.
