NLMK Group was named worldsteel Sustainability Champion. The title is awarded annually to steel companies that have proven their commitment to the principles of sustainable development, and is the main industry award in the field.

NLMK was shortlisted for the Excellence in Sustainability nomination. NLMK Group reached the finals with its slag processing project at NLMK Lipetsk, which enabled recovering 25 hectares of its territory, processing 6 million tonnes of secondary raw material, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 85,000 tonnes.

NLMK Lipetsk won the Environmental Culture. Peace and Harmony international competition, held under the auspices of the Vernadsky Non-Governmental Environmental Foundation, in the Environmental Culture in Industry and Energy category.
Metal-Expo 2020
NLMK Group was awarded the gold medal for the construction of a dry slag cooling complex at NLMK Lipetsk.
Green and Healthy Office 2020 Environmental Initiative
NLMK won in the Best Integrated System for Separate Waste Collection nomination. The motto of the initiative was GREEN & HEALTH: a green and healthy office. Its main goal was to promote best environmental practices of green offices and resource conservation, as well as corporate programmes for employee wellness.
Green Spring 2020 Russian Environmental Event
NLMK received an acknowledgement for actively participating in the Green Spring 2020 Russian Environmental Event and for the Company’s initiative and significant contribution to environmental protection.
Second Russian competition Reliable Partner: Environment
NLMK won in the second Russian competition Reliable Partner: Environment in the category Best project to reduce harmful substance emissions into the atmosphere and ensure the environmental safety of atmospheric air. The Company entered the competition with its project of capital repairs at the BF-6 complex.
Eco Organization regional contest
NLMK Kaluga placed second among major companies in the Environmentally Responsible Attitude to Managing Operations category.
17th High Social Performance Mining and Metallurgical Enterprise annual industry competition
Altai-Koks won in the Environmental Activity and Resource Conservation category.

NLMK won the 16th High Social Performance Mining and Metallurgical Enterprise industry competition. The Lipetsk site came in first in the Environmental Activity and Resource Conservation category.
